Isaac

Newton

Isaac Newton likely always had the potential for great things deep inside. But he rarely applied himself to overcoming challenges and seemed destined for a life herding sheep on a farm. What it took was a confrontation with a schoolyard bully to get him to stop goofing off and start getting serious about science.

Isaac Newton was born on Christmas Day in 1642, in the small village of Woolsthorpe, in rural England. His father, also named Isaac Newton, had died three months earlier.

Born prematurely, baby Isaac was so small that his mother claimed he could fit inside a beer mug. She kept a tiny pillow underneath his head at all times to keep his airway elevated so he could breathe.
